You are here: Managing Print Jobs > Default Job Options Dialog Box
Default Job Options Dialog Box
The Default Job Options dialog box controls special options for a print job. You can display this dialog box by clicking the Options button in the Submit dialog box, or by selecting a print job in a printer's Info window and then selecting Job, Default Options.
Verify STL file
(For STL files only) Checking this box sets the software to verify and repair, if necessary, the STL file(s) in the print job. Leave this box checked unless you are sure the files are valid. (Verify is not available for SLC files.)
Save Verified STL file
(For STL files only) Checking this box sets the software to save a copy of a verified STL file to disk. During this process an "_v" is appended to the filename to distinguish the verified file from the non-verified file. (Verify is not available for SLC files.)
Enable Part Placement
Checking this box sets the software to optimize the arrangement of the STL or SLC files on the platform before printing. Leave this option checked unless you plan to manually arrange the parts using the tools available in Print Preview.
Save Job
Checking this box sets the software to save the prepared job in the local printer queue so that it can be recalled and printed later. See Saving and Reusing Print Jobs.
Quick Build Orientation
(For STL files only) Checking this box causes the software to rotate the STL part so that it has the minimum possible Z-height, which reduces the time required to build the part. See Automatic Part Placement. (Quick Build Orientation is not available for SLC files.)
Shareable
If you select this option, the system will try to place other print jobs on the platform along with yours, building them at the same time, if they will fit. This saves Z height, which results in less expensive print jobs and faster throughput.
BuildStyle
You cannot change the BuildStyle in this release.
Shrink Comp %
The percentages in these boxes are used to compensate for material shrinkage along the X, Y, and/or Z axes of the build volume. 3D Systems recommends that you use the default values until you have enough experience or collect enough data to determine that different values are needed.
NOTE: Shrink Comp % is not the same thing as "scaling" a part. Do not use Shrink Comp % to change the final size of a printed part. Rather, use Shrink Comp % to compensate for size and shape changes that happen as a result of the 3-D printing process. To increase or decrease the final size of a printed part (in X, Y, and/or Z), scale the part in Preview. See Scaling Parts.
