CPU temperature controller

Location of the CPU temperature controller installer:

- x:\Drivers\TempCtrl (The letter ‘x’ means the drive letter of the CD-rom).

Installation

Follow instructions below.

1. Start SmartPad PC and login to the Windows®

2. Close SmartNav program if it runs

3. Place SmartNav installation CD to the CD-rom drive (if SmartNav installation window opens then click exit)

4. Open Windows® explorer and browse to the x:\Drivers\TempCtrl folder

5. Double click Install_TempCtrl.BAT icon. (Installer will copy needed files and register them to Windows®)

6. Click “YES” to confirm registration

7. Click “OK” in the registration notification

8. Click “OK” in the service installed notification

9. Reboot SmartPad PC

10. Check that CPU fan goes silent during few seconds from Windows® login.

Un-installation

Because the CPU temperature controller is a service program the service stopping is required before un-installation. Stop the service in following way.

1. Start SmartPad PC and login to the Windows®

2. Close SmartNav program if it runs

3. select “START => CONTROL PANEL => PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE => ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS”

4. Double click Services icon

5. Browse “Temperature Controller” from right pane and right click it.

6. Select “STOP” and wait a while for stopping service.

Now the CPU Temperature Controller can be removed on the following way.

7. Place SmartNav installation CD to the CD-rom drive (if SmartNav installation window opens then click exit)

8. Open Windows® explorer and browse to the x:\Drivers\TempCtrl folder

9. Double click UnInstall_TempCtrl.BAT icon. (Installer will remove exist service program)

10. Reboot SmartPad PC

Reinstallation

Updating the CPU Temperature Controller requires the un-installation of exist service program first and then new installation is allowed. Follow the Un-installation and Installation sections above to do that.
